A petition and letter to the minister of education. The Greek government plans to remove the subjects of music and other arts from secondary school

The Greek government plans to remove the subjects of music and other arts from secondary school curricula (grades 2nd & 3rd) due to the financial crisis. Please sing this petition to send a message of our negation to the Minister of Education. Let us urge him to keep and reform the subjects of music and the other arts in Primary and Secondary schools of Greece, making them central in the curricula.

The educational revolution of the 21st century is going to be about creativity. It is going to be directly related to the experience of musical and artistic creativity.Basic musical education must primarily be about music making, about creating music. Basic art education must primarily be about creating art.None of this can take root by cutting music and art education from secondary education.Support upgrading and not reducing teaching music and art by signing the following petition by faculty members of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University.
