Spiros Panagiotopoulos was born in Athens. He began his musical career playing drums.
In the mid-'80s he studied classical percussion at the Conservatory of Athens.
Since then he begins professional career on stage and accompanying discography for many major Greek singers ( G. Dalaras, C. Alexiou, A. Protopsalti, G. Parios, M. Lidakis, E. Arvanitakis, E. Moscholiou, M. Kana, T. Tsanaklidou, D. Savopoulos   etc… He has done over 450 recording with these singers and many other distinguished performers of the Greek music scene.
However, the music that express him the most is Jazz. In the early 90's, he was a founding member of the famous Jazz Group "PAGE ONE" and very active on the Greek Jazz scene, with concerts and performances in Athens (Athens Concert Hall, "DIVA" Jazz club, etc…)
He played with famous jazz musicians and singers such as Markus Stockhausen, Arlid Anderson, A. Sheppard, B. Hofseth, Deborah Davis, Modinha, Jean Parker, Carla Cook, Carel Loops.
Since 1993 he teaches drums at Philipos Nakas Conservatory. As a teacher and supported by the Philippos Nakas Conservatory and Contemporary Education he made the production of video cassette called "Technical and principles of expression”. He has also accompanied the pianist Denis Montgomery at shows in the auditorium of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory, and almost all jazz musicians from "Berklee" University,   who have visit the conservatory for seminars and concerts.
For few years now he performs with his own the jazz band in Greece and abroad.
In 2004-2005, the group appears every Friday and Saturday in the multi cultural center
"Athinais" with great success. The repertoire of the band includes composers such as Miles Davis, Billy Straghon, Duke Elligton, Keny Garet, John Coltrane.
