Drummer, Educator

Seraphim Bellos was born in 1969 . He began to play drums as an amateur ( in rock bands ) at the age of 16 . During his military service he played in the orchestra of the Navy . From 1990, he deals with jazz. He studied percussion at the workshop Nikos Touliatos (with Teachers L. Pliatsika and C. Floros) and he also played in his percussion group. He took part n performances at the Athens Concert Hall such as the “city lights” by Charlie Chaplin. In 1993 1994, he studied in Paris at the IACP with French and American masters of Jazz and works there with various band. He has also studied in New York with the best musicians of the world jazz scene, as Joe Champers, “Jabali” Billy Hart, Ali Jackson, Bruce Cox, Vanderlei Pereira, Jimmy Cobb, Bobby Durham, Eric Harland, Gregory Hutchinson. He also studied with Elvin Jones and John Hicks. Back in Athens, he founded the Latin Jazz group Cubana Bop which is still active. Also he was participating in the group Tierra Brava, from the first drawings salsa music in Greece. Alongside he studied timpales and playing reggae. The 1997, he worked with American jazz musician and did a tour in Greece and Cyprus, playing with Greek composers and singers such as Lino Kokkotos,Gregory Bithikotsis, Mary Linda, etc.

He was the drummer of Big Band Guru directed by Takis Paterelis. He has made recordings with Tierra Brava, Anakata, Down Town Beat, Yiorgos Psihogios and Big Band Guru.
He currently teaches at National music school and at The Modern Music School in Athens and leads the best Jazz Jam Session in town
